From the Foreward:

I am pleased to present the music for the ISTD Imperial Ballet Grades 5 and 6.

In composing the music I have utilised classical principles of melody, harmony and rhythm in order to provide the appropriate quality of musical energy at the required moments in the balletic exercises; thus encouraging the dancers to perform the classical movements with musicality, grace and poise required by the syllabus.

I have drawn inspiration for the compositions primarily from the classical exercises themselves, my own imagination and also from past and present musical styles.

I would like to thank all the teachers, dancers and musicians that I have worked with over the years for their appreciation and support.

I am grateful to Patricia Prime, Heather Fish and Guy Niblett for their valuable guidance on this project and to Keith John for his assistance in proof reading and editing the music.
