Alternative Rhythms
Alternative Rhythms is the name given to social dances that are generally danced in a nightclub setting as opposed to a ballroom. The Syllabus is divided into two groups. LA Salsa, New York Salsa, Cuban Salsa, Mambo, Lindy Hop and Argentine Tango are known as the core dances.
Bachata, Bossa Nova, Charleston, Discofox, Kizomba and Merengue are called the additional dances. As new and emerging dances become popular with the general public they also fall under the umbrella of the Alternative Rhythms.
